A LITTLE GUIDANCE
Let’s make it simple.
Clear answers. More control over your day.
01 / GETTING STARTED
A calmer starting point.
What is Bouncer?
Bouncer is a Windows desktop app for focus, privacy, and practical digital boundaries. Choose an intention, start a focus session, manage website and app rules, and optionally understand your activity.
It’s designed to help you get what you came for and leave when you have it.
Can I download it yet?
Bouncer is currently in development. A public download and release date have not been announced. The website’s waitlist will open once registration is available.
See waitlist status ↗Will Bouncer be free?
Pricing hasn’t been announced. Release and pricing information will be shared when it is ready.
02 / FOCUS & BOUNDARIES
Your day, your rules.
How does a focus session work?
Choose up to five work websites, add an optional goal, and select a duration. Review the session before starting. In Chrome, Edge, and Brave, those domains and their subdomains stay available while other HTTP and HTTPS websites are restricted.
Existing blocks and filtering still apply to your chosen websites. Browser policy refresh can delay changes. Other browsers, applications, and already-loaded background content are outside this focus-session boundary.
Can I schedule website and app rules?
Yes. Rules can run always or on a weekly schedule. Add or edit your rules, review the draft, and choose Apply changes. Machine-wide changes require administrator approval.
Application rules have limitations: moved, renamed, elevated, or unsupported apps may evade or refuse closure. Save your work before applying app rules.
How do I unblock a website?
In Blocking, remove or edit its rule, then review and Apply changes. Another rule, an active focus session, daily limit, or DNS filter may still restrict it. Browser policy updates can take time; check the browser’s policy page if it keeps using an old rule.
An active commitment prevents changes to existing rules until it expires.
Does protection stop when I close Bouncer?
No. Closing the window leaves the installed background service running. Use Bouncer’s controls to change or remove protection. Windows uninstall in development version 0.24.4 removes Bouncer’s owned controls even during a commitment. Earlier builds may require the commitment to expire first.
These are practical boundaries, not tamper-proof controls. Administrator access and clock changes can bypass parts of the model.
What is a briefing?
A short selection of up to five stories from the public websites or feeds you choose. You build it explicitly, read what interests you, and finish. It doesn’t automatically refill.
Source availability varies. Fetching contacts the publishers, who can see your network address. Saved headlines remain available offline. The current desktop fetcher is unavailable while Family DNS is enabled.
03 / PRIVACY & YOUR DATA
Personal stays personal.
What does optional activity tracking record?
Tracking starts off. If you enable it, Bouncer measures approximate foreground app time and, with the browser extension connected, website domain time. Website time is part of browser time, not extra time.
It records app paths and domains, not page titles, full URLs, typed text, or page content. Usage history is encrypted under your Windows account, stays on your PC, and is retained for 30 days.
Can I pause tracking or delete my history?
Yes. Activity’s privacy controls let you pause, turn off, export, or delete usage history. Pausing or turning off tracking also pauses personal daily limits. Scheduled blocking operates separately.
Deleting history resets today’s measured allowances while keeping the limits you chose. Optional Patterns & suggestions has separate consent and deletion controls.
Does this website collect my email?
Not at the moment. Waitlist registration is not connected, and this website does not collect or store email addresses. It has no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or third-party font requests. Your hosting provider may keep normal server logs.
Does everything stay offline?
Personal rules and local activity history do not require a cloud account. Features that fetch content contact the publishers you choose. Optional Family DNS sends browser DNS queries to its filtering provider. Opening a story visits the original website.
This is a summary of the development build. Read the full privacy notice for details about each feature.
04 / COMPATIBILITY
Built for Windows.
Which computers and browsers are supported?
The current development build requires Windows 10 version 2004 or later, x64, with .NET Framework 4.8. Installation and changes to machine-wide rules require administrator approval.
Browser policies support Chrome, Edge, and Brave. Website activity tracking and personal daily website limits require Bouncer’s browser extension, an active connection, and tracking enabled.
Is there an iPhone, Android, or Mac version?
Bouncer is being developed for Windows. Versions for phones and other desktop platforms are not available.
Is Bouncer available in app or browser stores?
Not yet. The current application and installer are unsigned development builds. The extension has not been published to browser stores. Public distribution details will be announced when ready.
Does Bouncer block every unsafe or adult website?
No. Bouncer provides explicit website rules and optional supported browser controls. Filtering has limits and does not guarantee that every unsafe or adult item is blocked. It is not an antivirus or universal content-classification system.
